Q: What do you mean by Lifetime Membership?
A Lifetime Membership means there are no annual fees. Once you sign up, you can see any practitioner in our network at any time for the rates that we advertise, as long as you are still in need of low fee care. We’ll never ask you to pay another fee if you decide to see a new practitioner or if you take a break and come back to Healing Arts at a later time.
In the event that your financial situation changes (you win the lottery, get a better paying job, obtain good holistic health care benefits through your insurance, etc), you may no longer qualify for Open Path Healing Arts Collective’s rates. If this occurs, we encourage you to speak with your practitioner about your rates. If your practitioner determines that you are no longer in need of Healing Arts’ low rates, then we will abide by your practitioner’s decision. We will not return your membership fee if you have already begun your work with your Healing Arts practitioner.
Q: How do I know if I should use Open Path’s affordable healing arts program?
Open Path Healing Arts Collective is intended for people who either lack health insurance or are underinsured, and cannot otherwise afford to work with a healing arts practitioner.
By underinsured, we are referring to people who have health insurance that does not include affordable in-network holistic health benefits. This could be due to a high deductible and/or a copay higher than $60 per session for care. Learn more.
If you have health insurance, we ask that you call your insurance company to verify your holistic health benefits before you use the Healing Arts Collective’s service. For a list of questions you can ask your insurance company to verify your benefits, click here.
If you can afford full-fee holistic health sessions, we ask that you do not use Open Path Healing Arts Collective’s services. If you have questions regarding whether Healing Arts Collective is right for you, please contact us at email@example.com.
Q: Why does Open Path Healing Arts Collective charge a membership fee?
Open Path Healing Arts Collective is a nonprofit organization. We use the funds we receive from your one-time membership fee to sustain a small support staff, maintain our website, pursue grants and other avenues of funding, and recruit new practitioners nationwide. Practitioners in private practice can charge upward of $200 per session. Healing Arts is a collective of holistic health practitioners practicing privately who want to offer a lower rate to those in need. We’ll never ask your financial records because we trust that if you’re seeking our services, it’s because you can afford to pay between $30 and $60–and because you can’t afford to pay more.
Q: What happens after I apply to be a member?
Once you’ve submitted your membership application and you’ve chosen an Open Path Healing Arts Collective practitioner, you’ll submit your one-time $49 membership fee to Healing Arts via debit, credit, or check. Then, we’ll send you a Healing Arts Member ID email, which you can forward to your chosen practitioner. From there you’re all set to discuss your per-session fee with your practitioner and schedule your first session. The per-session fee will be in a range between $30 and $60 for individual sessions – you’ll decide on the exact number with your practitioner.
Q: I have insurance. Can I use my insurance to pay the Healing Arts Collective fee?
Unfortunately, you cannot. One of the goals of Open Path Healing Arts Collective is to completely bypass the insurance industry. Healing Arts is intended for people who are either uninsured or underinsured. By “underinsured” we are referring to people who have a high deductible that they have yet to meet, or an unaffordable copay (more than $60). While some clients can use their HSA or FSA money to pay their practitioner, an Open Path Healing Arts Collective practitioner will not submit to an insurance company on your behalf or provide you with a superbill.
Q: I have Medicaid. Can I use the Healing Arts Collective?
If there are no available Medicaid providers in your area, you could use Open Path Healing Arts Collective to meet your need for affordable holistic health care needs. Please note that Healing Arts’ rates ($30-60 per session for individual sessions) are much higher than Medicaid rates for holistic health care. If there are available Medicaid providers in your area, we ask that you do not use Open Path Healing Arts Collective.
Q: What if I don’t like my practitioner, will you return my membership fee?
Open Path Healing Arts Collective relies on the membership fee to help us facilitate as much low-fee healing arts care around the nation as possible. While we won’t refund your membership fee if your practitioner is not the right match, you are welcome to see any other practitioner in our Collective without paying an additional fee. Your Healing Arts member number represents a lifetime membership and we routinely add new member practitioners to our Collective. Visit the Change or Add a Practitioner page, or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to change practitioners.
If for some reason you are unable to set up an appointment with your new practitioner, we will refund your membership fee as long as you make the request within 10 days of submitting the payment.
Finding and Working with a Practitioner
Q: I’d like to see a therapist – does Healing Arts offer that?
Not on this website. Please visit our sibling site, Open Path Psychotherapy Collective.
Q: How do I register to see a Healing Arts practitioner?
First, search for a Healing Arts practitioner in your area. If the practitioner you’ve selected has availability, a link to “email this practitioner” will appear on their profile page. If the practitioner you’ve selected isn’t available, please check back frequently: we’ll be adding new practitioners to our database as we grow. Email us at email@example.com to request that we find more practitioners in your area!
Q: How will my practitioner know that I’m an Healing Arts member?
After we receive your membership fee, we’ll email your Open Path Healing Arts Collective Member ID. In your first session with your practitioner you can show him/her /them your Open Path Healing Arts Collective Member ID email. You can also forward your practitioner a copy of the email.
Q: How do I book an appointment?
Once you register to become an Open Path Healing Arts Collective member, you will receive your Healing Arts Member ID, which contains your practitioner’s contact information. You can reach out directly to your practitioner to book appointments.
Q: How soon can I see my practitioner?
In order to learn more about a given practitioner’s availability, we recommend that you contact them directly. If you are not yet a member of Healing Arts, you can do so by clicking “Message this practitioner” on the practitioner’s profile. If you are a member, you can contact your practitioner using the information provided in your Member ID email.
Please know that practitioners’ availability will vary quite a bit. While some practitioners may have availability within a few days, others may not have an open slot for more than a week.
Q: How do I change or add a Healing Arts practitioner?
Please fill out this form if you wish to change or add a practitioner. We will need to update your Member ID email with the new practitioner’s name and contact information before you can start attending sessions with your new practitioner.
Q: What if I don’t find a Healing Arts practitioner in my area?
We understand that finding the right fit is extremely important in the healing arts, and that we may not always be able to offer your ideal candidate. If it is appropriate for the kind of treatment you are seeking, and you are open to working with a practitioner either online or through the telephone, please search our site for a practitioner providing “online care” in your state. If you still can’t find the right fit, please email us. Our goal is to recruit many more practitioners as we grow, and we want to hear from you.
Q: Will you know any details about my treatment with my practitioner?
Absolutely not. Everything that occurs between you and your practitioner is confidential. We are always open to receiving feedback on your experience, however. Please feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Q: Is there a limit on how many times a week I can see my Healing Arts practitioner or on how many total sessions I have with them?
This decision is completely between you and your practitioner.
Q: Can you guarantee that I will have a positive experience with my Healing Arts practitioner?
Unfortunately, we cannot. While we do everything we can to ensure that your practitioner is qualified, and licensed or certified in their field, we are not responsible for anything that occurs in your relationship together. Please see our terms of service for more information.
Rates & Fees
Q: Can a practitioner raise my rates?
An Open Path Healing Arts Collective practitioner can only raise your $30-60 fee range rate if your financial situation changes. If you find yourself in a situation where you’re suddenly able to pay more for your treatment, it is expected that you will bring this up with your practitioner. If you don’t, it’s expected that your practitioner will bring this up with you!
